Knock. Knock. Knock. Charlotte rolled over in her bed, ignoring the soft knocks that seemed to be echoing through her room. She was having a delightful dream and was warm and cozy in her little nest of blankets. “Five more minutes…” She mumbled into the empty cabin. BANG! BANG! BANG! “Up and at em’! Either you get up now or you skip breakfast and go half the day hungry!” Came a familiar female voice, Ashley it would seem. Charlotte let out a loud groan and sat up slowly, “Alright alright, I’m coming..” She said, tousling her mess of strawberry blonde locks. The smell of eggs, toast, and breakfast sausages was drifting in through her door and her stomach let her know quickly that she could use some breakfast. Charlotte climbed from her bed and went about her normal morning routine. Teeth brushed, Hair brushed and tugged back into a ponytail, face washed and a fresh set of clothing tugged on. She opted for dark grey leggings and a loose-fitting white blouse today, hopefully it

Pony Tales: Clover - Christmas Special Pt. 01
The night air was crisp as half of a blizzard rolled in from the east. The area wasn’t often prone to getting much in the way of snowstorms but it would seem that snow was a necessary part of a Christmas party because a huge cold front had rolled in the night before and had yet to let up. The snow came down in thick flakes, blowing in almost horizontally as moonlight filtered down through them in the early evening. Outside the huge mansion, the rhythmic crunching of specially tailored and insulated hooves could be heard as a sled approached the front of the mansion. The sled portion was half-enclosed with only the front open for the driver to guide the blonde-haired pony hooked to the cart. A pony whom you’d think MIGHT be a bit cold dressed as she was. Tugging reins attached to an intricate silver and gold bridle the sleigh would slowly circle the large fountain and come to a halt in front of the front doors of the mansion. If you listened closely you could just barely hear cheery

The flickering of the bonfire filled the area with soft light, providing a heat source in the already-too-hot night. But there was still something magical about sitting around a campfire at night. All the campers had gone to bed at this point leaving the group of trainers on their own to enjoy the evening. They were used to the hours so staying up a bit later didn’t really affect them. On one side of the fire sat Lila, she’d decided to come up and join them for a little while. She was dressed in a pair of comfortable pajama pants with a loose-fitting top and her hair let down around her in a cascade of blonde. She’d finished up for the day and had cleaned up but had zero interest in getting dressed to go out again. So she’d brought a big old bag of marshmallows and was roasting one over the fire as all of them chatted. Not including Lila, there were six trainers in total. However, with how Ashley was currently sitting, one of them had been relegated to the position of armrest. Liam

It was a surprisingly good night of sleep for Lily. It wasn’t often she managed to feel completely rested without the help of her medication. On the other hand, having not gotten proper sleep in ages it was a bit of a shocking experience when someone gave her a gentle poke forcing her out of that restful sleep. She let out a slight groan, easing her eyes open to see Serrah’s smiling face only a few inches from hers, “Mornin’ sleepyhead! Time to get up. I brought you coffee!” Serrah held up a Naturefoam cup which had steam rising from the lid to accentuate her point. Lily grumbled and rolled over, tugging her blankets up and over her head, “Gimme a bit longer will you?” Serrah set down the coffee cup and with a WHOOSH, ripped the blankets straight off of her, “Nope. If you sleep much longer, not only will you not make it to the trade show. You’ll also not have enough time to get to Professor Barnes. So, up up up so we can go already! Also, there are some really cool demos at the

…Frustrated noises from the tack room? Perish the thought. No pony went in there and got flustered while being tacked up! It was a special experience full of excitement and emotion. However today the emotion was pure frustration. “They fit when I retired!” CRACK! The sound of a crop striking a bare thigh echoed through the room as a frustrated huff came from Aria as she leaned over the dressing rack. Despite being snugly secured by several straps she managed to shoot a flustered look at Sophie who was tugging the hoof boot off of Aria’s leg with a sigh. “Regardless. They don’t fit now. They’ll have to be taken out slightly.” Sophie stood up, setting the pair of black and green leather boots on the nearby table, occupied by a dozen other pieces of tack, which despite their age had been well taken care of through the years. Whether by Sophie’s hands or by Aria’s when she was feeling lonely and nostalgic. “Taken out? Are you calling me fa—“ Sophie jammed the tip of her crop into

It was midday at this point and Charlotte had been left to her own devices. Get to know her fellow campers? Introduce herself to some of the training staff? The choices were many. But one in particular bubbled up in the back of her head, exploration. She was free to wander the property and check things out. Out of all the options, that was the most exciting to her. Sure, she liked being social. But she was also an incredibly curious type. So exploration it was. Unpacking her bags and tucking the bits of clothing she had into the little storage space she had, she would quickly shove a bag of cherry-flavored soft candies into her pocket and head out of her cabin. She stepped out into the sunlight, blowing strands of fiery red hair from her face. It seemed everyone else was kind of mingling in and around their cabins, except for Liam who was walking down the steps of a cabin rubbing his backside and looking to pout as Ashley leaned against the door frame grinning. Charlotte noted the

“Well, how is he?” There’s a long pause on one end of the phone as Aria waits for a response to come back through. The pause is mildly concerning, but she knew Victoria and knew if there was anything major, she’d have called right away. The pause was likely to figure out how to approach the subject reasonably. Victoria had a rather direct bedside manner at times so she wasn’t afraid to be blunt, which was something Aria respected greatly. “Well. His health in the grand scope of things is good. Minus being egregiously out-of-shape, with no cardio so-to-speak.” “So my initial guesses then were correct?” “Yes. If you put him in hooves now, you’d be risking a lot more than some aches and pains.” “Fixable?” “Absolutely. He’s in for a very tough year. I’ve got Lex talking to him about exercise and his history at the moment. With the right diet and exercise, he can certainly get where you’d like him to be. But it’s not so much whether we can get him there, it’s whether he has the

Clover felt like eternity itself was passing her by while she stood outside Aria’s office door, In reality, it was at best thirty seconds. She wondered who was going to answer after what she had witnessed outside. She heard shuffling inside the room, the jingle of something like ice in a glass, and then a voice, “Come in”. Clover drew in a deep breath and cautiously pushed the door open stepping inside. She found herself facing Hayley sitting in Aria’s chair the one she had been in the day they’d first met. Clover tilted her head a little bit making Hayley stifle a small chuckle, “It is surprising to me as well my dear Clover. Now sit, we have a fair bit to discuss.” She motioned to the empty chair across from her. Clover moved forward, slowly easing down into the chair, making note of the file sitting in front of Hayley that had her name on it. =======A Tutorial We’ve all run into the situation where we want a character to speak while gagged, but what do you write? You can put your hand over your own mouth, speak the lines and try to mimic it in print, but when faced with the task it’s not that simple. Good gag speak can help paint a more vivid picture of a captive's distress more vividly and make us feel that gag empathetically and viscerally, if there were just some rules to follow (and break). I am no expert, but over decades of DiD writing I have been evolving a set of guidelines in my head of how to convert normal speech into sets of letters that portray a character with gag hampered speech. These guidelines were first based on observation of other people’s writing, then an analysis based on what I have been able to learn and observe about sound and speech articulation. Only recently have I boiled these down to a set of written guidelines. Styles of my own writing are biased of course, but take, ignore, or break the

“We’re almost there Miss Chandler.” Came the soft call of the incredibly kind cab driver to the female sitting in the back of his cab. The female in question had slept most of the trip from Newmarket to this rather remote location. The cabbie had driven here once before and dropped someone off a few years ago. He still had no idea what the place was. The female in question, a girl with mid-back length blonde hair and bright green eyes which were currently half-lidded and sleepy, looked up. She offered a bit of a smile at the cabbie as she pushed off the armrest of the cab, turning her gaze to the thick forest that passed them by as they descended into the ‘heart’ of a large forested area south of Newmarket. She looked utterly exhausted in how she slumped her seat. After all, it had been two connecting flights and a three-hour cab ride to get to this point. Part of her hoped there was at least a soft bed waiting for her upon arrival… …A bed? Who was she kidding? She doubted there
